A Tragic Tale of One Suburban~ With a Happy Ending

One way for us not to buy your vehicle, Mr Dealership Man, is to tell us it's not the price of the vehicle in question, but how much our monthly payments will be.  In fact, you couldn't be farther from the truth.  For us, it is ALL about the price of the vehicle.

And when you insult us by only coming down on your price by $500 and insisting four wheel drive is worth $8000, it won't be any hesitation on our part to walk out of your office and drive home. Because I've done my research, and it tells me you're full of- *ahem* -bull shit.

And yes, to answer your question, apparently we did drive three hours to leave empty handed. Believe me, three hours is a drop in the bucket for this military couple who's closest family is 18 hours away.

We learned a few things this weekend. (1) It'll be good to not have a car payment for a while. Our savings account will benefit amazingly well.  (2) This is the second time we've been shopping for a new car and the major reason we didn't buy is because the seller was a complete jerk.  (3) Our 12 year old Explorer will be exactly what this family needs for another year-- or more, if necessary.

The perfect upgrade will come along.  When it's time.  Until then, we'll remain debt free and storing that money away we would otherwise be spending on a new car payment.

Yes.  Life is good.

  1. Aww, too bad the suburban didn't work out. I know Jeremy was excited for it, but good on you two for not being bullied into it! Sock that money away for the day that perfect upgrade lands in your lap. :-)

    1. Thanks for the encouragement. It was really hard to leave something that's not covered in dried cranberries and cracker crumbs, haha!
