Things That Make You Go, Hmmmm

Driving onto base this morning, just Lydia and I.  ID checker guy does his thing and while waving me in, informs me not to leave my kid in the car while I'm on base.

Uhhh.....??

Just how many people do you suspect have done this recently that they are now INFORMING YOU as you drive in the gate?

******************

Took Lydia back to the pediatrician's office to beg for another script of Zantac (and please God let Lydie stop coughing and choking on her own vomit in the middle of the night) since they didn't seem to want to return my call I made three hours previously.  Upon seeing my smiling face now in their office they decided that, HEY!  WHY DON'T WE JUST CHECK HER OVER WHILE YOU'RE HERE!

First I informed the nurse that No, YOU can not weigh Lydia, but if you'll please be so kind as to step outside this office, I will weigh her and shout out the answer to you.

Second I informed the very kind doctor lady who has never seen Lydia before about all 300 pages of medical history my 19 month old has in her chart there.  You know, better to short hand this kind of thing.

Third I lay Lydia down on the bed thingy to have the doctor look over her, but this doctor doesn't know that Lydia hates the general public at large and so she leans down simultaneously with us.  Lydia then starts thrashing and CLOCKS Nice Doctor Lady square in the head WITH HER SHOE.

I then lay ON TOP of Lydia with my arms spread wide trying to shield my child who is now slapping me on the head while trying very desperately to kick Nice Doctor Lady a few more times for good measure.  Nice Doctor Lady, all the while, keeps her cool and proceeds to poke, prod and listen to Lydia's belly, which is situated quite firmly under my breasts.  I'm willing to go out on a limb, here, and say it was a VERY  uncomfortable situation for ALL in the room.

Nice Doctor Lady finishes the exam, writes me a Blessed prescription and then tells me Lydia will need to come back in 4-6 weeks for a weight check since she hasn't gained any weight in the last month.  LYDIA WEIGHS 26 POUNDS.

Wanna know when Kyra hit 26 pounds?  Right before her 3rd birthday.

Why, yes, my toddler is built like a tank and could probably be a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, but we'll see you in 4-6 weeks to make sure she is sufficiently gaining weight!  Mmmm hmmm....

  2. Thank you! I'm not sure Lydia shared your thought at that time.
