I'm A Native. Clearly... They Are Tourists.

Being born and (half) raised on the Gulf side of the Sunshine State, I've come accostumed to making fun of all the tourists and snow birds who romp and splash though the 60 and 70 degree waters in the middle of winter.  No local will step a TOE in ocean water if it hasn't reached 85-90 degrees.  We know better.

During the last few weeks, the girls and I took a road trip to the Sunshine State to see both family and long lost friends.  I've come to find that during this latest expedition that my children have sadly fallen into the tourist catigory.  And for every local who walked by as Kyra and Lydia splashed in the Atlantic in the middle of January, I cracked jokes and made fun of my own children right along with them.  The locals and I, pointing fingers, laughing at how only children and tourists have the combined energy and stupidity to splash in waters that cold.

Well, at least they had fun.  Even if by the end Lydia was turning blue and shivering uncontrollably.  It was nothing a hot bath and warm bottle of formula couldn't handle.  And once Kyra warmed up... she wanted to go splash around some more!  Poor kids, defiantly tourists.
